Jumpin' For Jay
We had a reunion of sorts this weekend in Siloam Springs. A group of us from RHS got together to support a family who's son passed away from Fibrolamellar Cancer (it's a very, very rare form of cancer that hardly gets any recognition). His name was Jay and he grew up with my Sissy. His sister and I went through school together as well, so when I heard his story, it broke my heart. He was a young, active student just living a regular life before he got sick. Once they found out what was wrong, they told him he had months to live. He died 32 days later. So in honor of his 21st Birthday wish (going sky-diving), many friends volunteered to sky-dive on Saturday. They raised $15,220 and I felt priviledged to be there among friends and family to remember him.
Max had a lot of fun that day as well. He was excited to see all of the airplanes, take pictures next to them, play with the other kids there, eat hamburgers and hotdogs, and best of all, he was out of his mind excited when he say the parachutes in the sky. -We will always remember you Jay and hopefully one day, they will find a cure to this rare disease!!
