The Wheel That Turns and Returns
It wasn't that long ago that she was a child,
always holding her mother's hand,
playing with dolls,
singing songs
She was a tiny thing, full of sparkle
her light was bright and those
around her loved her for it
Seasons flew by and one day
she woke up a full fledged grown human girl
The time had come to go and explore and
find out what had come before
find out what had come before
She journeyed into the world
found love, the breathtaking kind
He was foreign, impulsive, and
interesting
He was foreign, impulsive, and
interesting
He left before the babe was even a year old
his words promised of return but the
minute he walked out the door
she knew he wouldn't come back
he had betrayed her and that's hard to forget
he had betrayed her and that's hard to forget
She turned her sorrows into strength, with a strong
shield she protected herself and her kin
With a wielded she fought an adversary
ten times stronger than she
Sometimes she would tire, sometimes she would
Sometimes she would tire, sometimes she would
plead for easier moments, for kinder times
The burden of motherhood was heavy and her
little shoulders much too small to carry the full weight
In near despair, she called out to her maker
She kneeled, she prayed.
The strength she found within her very core brought her to her feet
She replaced her beautiful gowns with sensible brown clothing
Her uniform consisting of a sword, strong shield, and a strong pair of boots
Her protectors had left her, her man had betrayed her
Yet she was unashamed.
She protected her wee lad, for she loved him so
and she found the perfect way to fight off her foe
No longer afraid of what was to come but instead
with a brilliant smile she welcomed it all
For life is not simple nor free
It's filled with enemies who won't let anyone succeed
It's filled with enemies who won't let anyone succeed
Her wee lad grew into a strong, straping man
The kind anyone can hope for
Her sacrifice was not in vain
She watched him always, loving him and teaching him too
In the belief that he would choose wisely in all things
She sacrificed her entire life for a little man
It was the greatest choice she could have ever made
For love can be given freely to anyone we choose and
she chose to give all her love to her family
The ultimate sacrifice was her greatest blessing
for triumphs, trials, and other things come
but nothing can replace the ultimate fight for all that
we hold dear in our hearts.
